DEFY - L.J. Shen - Review -πππππ 5 NAUGHTY STARS!!
Title: Defy
Series: Sinners of Saints #0.5
Author: L.J Shen
Genre: Contemporary Romance
My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My
name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher
and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s
office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.
Defy is a smutty, insta-love, insta-lust short novella. Defy is a prequel to Vicious (Sinners of Saint #1). It is recommended, but unnecessary, to read Defy before reading Vicious.
Her
passion is to write badass stories, sushi, UFC and her awesome family
and friends (not in this order, though. Obviously, sushi comes before
writing. Oh, and also the family part.)
She
spend the first half of her twenties traveling the world and is now
paying all the fun with extra shifts in front of her MacBook. Feel free
to contact her on her Facebook page. She loves to hear from her readers.

There is a line straight from this book that explains exactly how I feel about it.
"It
was wrong, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like how wrong it felt.
Whether I was corrupting or being corrupted...I loved how it made me
feel."
Really. You feel so naughty rooting for this couple. They're so taboo .. yet so perfect.
My
love affair with L.J. Shen began with Blood and Dust. Her books draw
you in like a magnetic force. I love authors that give you enough
detail so you can imagine the scene vividly with your own imagination
without going overboard. L.J. Shen is one of those authors. I'm not
going to sugarcoat. Her books might not be for everyone. They touch on
the taboo relationships. Couples that shouldn't be.. But lets face it.
We all know they exist. And she has you rooting for these couples. You
hope they make it. That they Defy the odds. (See what I did there? π)
Melody
and Jamie are one of those couples. A 26 year old former ballerina, an
accident crushes her Julliard dreams. Broken hearted and needing to
start somewhere else again, she returns home to follow in her parents'
footsteps. Melody becomes a teacher at Jamie's school - a school of
privileged, spoiled kids. He's the 18-year-old star quarter back.. and
1/4th of the HotHoles. Life as a teacher is less than thrilling for our
Melody. Especially in a school of a bunch of brats. And to top it off -
The principal can't stand Melody. Hates her even. So of course.. The
principal would end up being Jamie's mom, right?
Goodness,
there is so much push and pull between these two. My mouth dropped open
a few times. My eyes bulged. And the smiles that I kept fixed on my
face? Well. You cant help but cheer these on, and you feel just a bit
naughty for that.
While
the subject matter and the initial relationship might have you second
guessing whether or not you want to read this, I promise you. It's SO
worth it.
I really really enjoyed this story.. And now I want to read Vicious all over again.
5 NAUGHTY stars.
Because regular stars wouldnt be good enough for Mel and Jamie.
Give this book a chance. You'll really enjoy it!
While you're at it - Check out other books from L.J. Shen. Because she's AWESOME.
