Where do I even begin?
Jessica Hawkins is one of those authors that pull you in from her very first words. This book is so well written and so amazing, you can't help but fall right in love with each and every word.
We're taken on a blast to the 90s past..and the journey of Lake (16) and Manning (23). Their forbidden love has your heart both soaring and breaking at the same time. How could you NOT fall in love with Manning? Such a good guy with an amazing hear despite his own 'demons'. And Lake? My goodness...What an amazing character. She might be young, but .. Still. She's so sweet and innocent. You cant help but be drawn to her. I mean. Really. How often do you wish you could be friends' with a literary character? That's how she makes you feel!
Your heart tugs at the way you can just TELL they feel for one another .. but dont give in because of what's at stake. She's too young. He's trying to move on from his past. I cried so much because I just wanted these two to finally, FINALLY be together.. And then you feel bad for wanting that because she's only 16! lol
God, I was so lucky to be able to read this book. It takes you on an emotional journey quite unlike any other. I can't WAIT for the rest of this series to come out.. So do yourselves a favor and get this book...Then pre-order the rest of the series. This book is LIFE. Have tissues handy...and be prepared to have a book that will have you so drawn in...you wont want to put it down until its over. Then when it is, you'll want to re-read it just in case you missed anything. LOVE.LOVE.LOVE.
